Tasks:
1. May conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods
2. Assess patients’ diseases or disorders to determine appropriate surgical procedures
3. Perform and supervise surgical procedures to correct physical abnormalities and deficiencies and repair injuries
4. Conduct microscopic and chemical analyses of laboratory samples and specimens
5. Prepare research papers for publication and presentation
6. Study the nature, cause and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases
7. Supervise laboratory activities
8. Act as consultants to other physicians
9. Diagnose and treat diseases and physiological or psychiatric disorders
10. Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
11. Prescribe medication and treatment and refer patients for surgery
