Sewcialising is a vibrant fabric shop and sewing studio nestled in the heart of York city centre. We're passionate about beautiful fabrics, haberdashery, dressmaking, quilting, yarns, and unique sewing gifts – and we love sharing that passion through our fun and friendly sewing and craft workshops.
We're currently looking for a creative, enthusiastic person to join our team on a freelance basis. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting daily operations within our shop and studio environment.
This role involves:
* Working in our shop independently on Saturdays (& possibly Mondays), including opening and closing the shop.
* Hosting sewing and craft workshops during weekdays, evenings or weekends, depending on demand.
The ideal person for this role is:
* Creative & passionate in sewing, knitting, crochet, and general crafting.
* Experienced – you might have a degree in textiles or fashion, or be a talented self-taught sewer and crafter.
* Friendly, confident, have a positive attitude and have great customer service or retail experience.
* Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working independently.
* Flexible, especially during busy periods or seasonal events.
Please note: This role requires solid, hands-on experience in sewing and dressmaking and either knitting or crochet additionally would also be a bonus. We will not be able to consider students or applicants without relevant experience, as the position involves independently leading workshops and advising customers.
