Associate Director - Town Planning \nLocation: London, Birmingham, Northampton or Manchester (Hybrid - 1-2 days in office per week) \nSalary: £50,000-£60,000 + car allowance + bonus + benefits (dependent on experience)\n\nAre you a talented Principal Town Planner or Associate Town Planner looking to take the next step in your career? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Principal Town Planning Consultant or Associate Director to join a leading national consultancy team working across the residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and employment sectors.\n\nThis role is ideal for a confident and driven individual with a strong background in planning consultancy or local authority planning, and a passion for delivering high-quality outcomes across a wide variety of projects. You will manage your own caseload, lead complex applications and appeals, and support the development of junior team members.\n\nYou'll be instrumental in business development - maintaining strong client relationships and actively identifying new opportunities to drive growth.
A personal portfolio of clients or proven ability to generate new business will be a distinct advantage.\n\nKey Responsibilities: \n·Manage a personal caseload of complex planning projects and client accounts \n·Prepare and submit major planning applications and appeals \n·Represent clients at committee meetings, hearings, and public examinations \n·Conduct site appraisals and planning policy research to assess development potential \n·Produce detailed planning reports and strategic recommendations \n·Engage effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, and the wider project team \n·Attend site visits and client meetings \n·Lead on business development activities, including networking and proposal preparation\n\nAbout You: \n·Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline \n·Chartered Member of the RTPI (essential) \n·Significant post-qualification experience in a consultancy or local authority setting \n·In-depth understanding of UK planning legislation and policy \n·Demonstrable success in managing complex applications and appeals \n·Proven track record of developing client relationships and generating fee income \n·Excellent written and verbal communication skills \n·Commercially focused, with a strategic mindset\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a dynamic and ambitious planning team, with the flexibility of hybrid working and clear pathways for professional growth.\n\nTo apply, please send your CV to (url removed) or call (phone number removed) \n \nReference - 59738
