Overview

Emergency Practitioner (GP) – Emergency Department, Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Permanent, part-time posts minimum 21 hours per week. Salary: £122,891 to £147,522 per annum pro rata.

Responsibilities

* The Emergency Practitioner role is a hybrid position using primary and emergency care training to deliver quality care to patients in a fully consultant-supported modern Emergency Department.
* Work within Raigmore Hospital, the principal Emergency Department in the Highlands, serving Inverness and the wider Highland region (regional trauma unit).
* Co-located with the Primary Care Emergency Centre; provide emergency care for Emergency Department and Out of Hours Primary Care. May have some involvement in out-of-hours primary care provision.
* Contribute to a diverse case mix across all ages with opportunities for broad clinical exposure to the full range of emergency care.
* Cover a core rota with dayshifts, backshifts and nightshifts, including weekend work. Out-of-hours commitment is recognised within the remuneration; flexibility in working patterns is available.
* Collaborate with 8.6 WTE Consultants, up to 15 Emergency Practitioners, 4 Specialty Doctors, 7 GPSTs, an ACCS Trainee, clinical fellows and advanced nurse practitioners. Access to personal and departmental development time.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Must hold the Certificate of Completion of Training for General Practitioners and be eligible for inclusion on the General Practice Primary Care performers list. Applicants may apply if within 6 months of completion of training.
* Prior experience in emergency medicine is expected; experience in resuscitation courses is desirable. Additional training will be provided if needed.
* UK / Scottish registration and eligibility to practice in NHS Scotland.


Remuneration and Benefits

* Salary £122,891 to £147,522 per annum pro rata.

Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, Highlands. The department is supported by a multi-disciplinary team and serves a large regional population (over 10,000 square miles and around 320,000 people).
