Overview
High Intensity CBT Therapist – Band 7. Permanent role at Newham Talking Therapies (part time or full time options available).
Responsibilities
* Hold a small caseload of face-to-face clients and deliver the majority of clinical work via video and telephone.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team trained in modalities such as guided self-help, EMDR, IPT, DIT, CfD, BCT and more.
* Work from clinical buildings one day per week, with the remainder from home (subject to clinical demands and service needs).
* Support service hours: Monday to Friday (8am–8pm); you will be required to work 12–8 on one day per week.
Location and Schedule
* Location: Newham Talking Therapies, 10 Vicarage Lane, London, E15 4ES
* Working pattern: Full-time or Part-time (minimum 3 days/week with 1 evening per week 12pm–8pm). Blended working (home and office) subject to service needs.
Candidate Requirements
* Essential: Experience in treating long-term conditions; ability to meet service targets; ability to manage own caseload and time; strong written communication; able to write clear reports; understanding of clinical risk; ability to develop therapeutic relationships; knowledge of anxiety and depression in Primary Care; knowledge of medications used for anxiety/depression; commitment to evidence-based psychological therapies.
* Desirable: Training/qualification in other High Intensity therapies; ability to deliver CBT in group formats; LTC treatment experience; 2 years post-qualification experience.
* Desirable: Experience of treating PTSD; experience delivering group therapy; experience using interpreters; fluent in languages other than English.
Education and Training
* Essential: Core mental health training with BABCP accreditation or eligibility; or BABCP accredited/eligible for accreditation within 6 months; CBT trainee must complete training within 3 months of offer, with band 6 offered initially and band 7 on successful completion; willingness to continue Continuing Professional Development.
Skills and Competencies
* Full range of CBT competencies (Roth and Pilling 2007); computer literacy; excellent verbal and written communication; risk assessment capability; understanding of clinical risk; ability to work with clients with long-term conditions; knowledge of anxiety/depression presentations in Primary Care; knowledge of work, benefits and employment systems related to mental health.
