Job ID: 10442348 | Amazon UK Services Ltd.
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is central to Amazon's commitment to innovation. As Amazon evolves and adapts, this team ensures that the tools and technologies we use keep pace. As a Senior RME Technician, you’ll help us stay one step ahead by adopting the latest technologies and identifying new and efficient ways of working. In this role, you’ll pay close attention to our processes to maintain our high standards, and you’ll implement upgrades to raise those standards even higher.
Key job responsibilities
* Demonstrate best practice for using equipment safely and monitor teams to ensure everyone follows the correct processes.
* Track equipment performance through visual checks, condition‑based monitoring, and preventative maintenance tasks, and schedule additional servicing when required.
* Supervise technicians on shift to support their development and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
* Solve equipment issues to reduce downtime for operations so they can process packages as quickly as possible.
* Support continual improvement of systems and standardise processes across the EU network.
A day in the life
In every shift, you’ll lead a team to ensure everyone has the equipment they need and that it is running properly. This involves monitoring processes so that regulations and policies are followed and ensuring that preventative maintenance is carried out to increase equipment uptime. From your observations, you’ll suggest improvements to make our systems more efficient and productive, then implement those improvements across an EU‑wide function. You’ll also monitor processes with tools like SCADA to guarantee performance, and work closely with your line manager on administrative tasks.
This role is located at one of our operational sites. You’ll work shift patterns that may include some weekends and nights. As you develop experience within this exciting part of Amazon, you’ll be well‑placed to progress into more senior roles.
About the team
The RME team keeps our equipment performing at its best. We are a technically minded team made up of excellent team players and guided by experienced leaders. We maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfilment centres. From installing automated packaging systems to overseeing general maintenance of a site, we also repair key distribution equipment. Our work keeps buildings legally compliant and sites operating at maximum efficiency, providing many opportunities for progression both within the RME team and more broadly across Amazon.
Everything we do focuses on reducing downtime in Amazon’s crucial operations sites, so customers receive their orders on time. We often work early or late hours, including night shifts, to carry out maintenance with minimal disruption. If we spot better ways to do something, we develop and introduce new processes or technology such as Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.
