Job Summary and Duties
As a Learning Support Assistant at our Newton Abbot / Ashburton schools, you will be a vital part of our team, supporting students' education. This role offers excellent opportunities to gain experience working with young people with Social, Emotional & Mental Health difficulties (SEMH). You will lead and coordinate flexible, person-centred programmes for individuals and groups, demonstrating a practical, hands-on approach and a willingness to go above and beyond for our students.
Following a comprehensive induction, your duties will include:
1. Working under the guidance of the Deputy Principal and class teacher to plan and implement work programmes for pupils with special needs.
2. Supporting the class teacher in managing and organizing pupils with special needs.
3. Helping to create a purposeful and supportive learning environment.
4. Promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all pupils.
5. Ensuring the welfare and safeguarding of pupils.
Key Skills Required
* Good numeracy and literacy skills.
* Experience working with relevant age groups in a learning environment.
* Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
* Experience with clerical or administrative tasks.
* Training in relevant curriculum or learning strategies.
