Paradigm Housing Group is seeking a skilled Decorating Repairs & Support Technician to undertake reactive decoration tasks across our properties. This 12-month fixed-term contract will cover long-term sick leave within the team. We’re looking for a professional with a strong multi-trade skillset to carry out painting, decorating, and minor repair works, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities: Complete internal and external painting and decorating tasks as required. Prepare walls and surfaces, ensuring they are ready for decoration. Perform minor repairs to surfaces and structures before painting. Carry out plastering tasks, including mixing and applying coats of plaster, cement, and render to structures. Install plasterboard, including measuring, marking, cutting, lifting, positioning, and securing panels. Undertake minor carpentry and plumbing repairs. Execute additional day-to-day maintenance tasks beyond decorating. Safely erect access equipment, such as ladders and scaffolding, in compliance with health and safety standards. Use relevant tools and equipment safely and effectively. Monitor and manage decorating materials, ensuring timely stock replenishment. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and third-party service providers to deliver exceptional service. Adhere to all health and safety legislation and procedures, including completing risk assessments and method statements. Suggest and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce repair costs. What We’re Looking For: Essential Criteria: Recognised qualification (NVQ/BTEC) in Painting & Decorating or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Strong multi-trade skills, including plastering, minor carpentry, and plumbing. Proven ability to deliver high-quality, customer-focused service. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of issues and independently resolve them. Physically fit and capable of safely using ladders and scaffolding. General understanding of trade works and best practices. Awareness of health and safety legislation and procedures relevant to the role. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Adaptable, flexible, and a strong team player. Effective time management skills. Full, valid UK driving licence. Preferred Criteria: Experience in housing, particularly in both public and private sectors. Health and safety training to CITB industry standards. Computer literacy and familiarity with IT systems.
