Advanced Occupational Therapist

We are expanding and developing our existing mental health services for children and young people (CYP), adults and older adults, including this exciting development working within South Tyneside primary care services as part of the Lifespan Model.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x Occupational Therapists. The post will sit within South Community CBU and work into South Tyneside Primary Care. We are looking for experienced and dedicated Occupational Therapists with a diverse range of skills and experience including Neurodiversity for one of the posts to work across the Lifespan Model, including children and young people.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop Occupational Therapy across the South Tyneside Primary Care to embed innovative and creative evidence-based practice that will provide safe, effective, high quality care for our service users and their families.
This is a very exciting, diverse and autonomous role; it will be vital to have positive working relationships with the primary and secondary care teams, as well as third sector organisations.
Main duties of the job
We require a highly motivated, skilled Occupational Therapist with the ability to work autonomously but also be part of a leadership team, and with a commitment to their own personal and professional development.
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a good working knowledge of theories, models and approaches relevant to this clinical setting, as well as a good understanding of a range of clinical conditions related to adult/older adult mental health and children and young people. You will also be expected to work as part of a wider leadership team and support service development across the pathways.
The successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be committed to delivering excellent patient care. We are committed to providing both management and clinical supervision and will support with continuous professional development.
The introduction of Occupational Therapist's is relatively new within this locality as part of the Lifespan Model, as such it will give the post holder an excellent opportunity to shape, influence, and develop the services in primary care moving forward, while being supported by the clinical team.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
* Recognised Occupational Therapy degree or equivalent.
* HCPC registered
* Evidence of specialist short courses and other relevant CPD to masters level equivalence
* Registered member of College of Occupational Therapists
Knowledge and Experience
* Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and RCOT standards and other local and national initiatives
* Proven track record of post reg clinical experience relevent to the post
* Experience of working within an MDT
* Awareness of equal opportunities legislation and policies
* Experience of collaborative working across agencies and prof disciplines
* Proven ability to manage a clinical caseload in a flexible manner as required
* Undertaking appraisals
* Experience of providing clinical supervision and support to clinical staff
* Knowledge of health and safety requirements of the team
* Experience of teaching/training
* Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours
