We are seeking a driven and experienced Health and Safety Advisor within our GMP Facility. Job Summary Based on-site in Sawston, Cambridge, the primary responsibility for this role is to develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and training programs for our employees. The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for liaising with relevant departments to conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, implementing control measures to manage these hazards, and providing technical advice and guidance to employees to promote safe working practices. In addition to this the Health and Safety Advisor will also be responsible for assisting departments with investigating any health and safety incidents, accidents or near misses, reporting on the outcome of these events and recommending corrective actions. This role will be the first point of contact for any health and Safety matters and will advise the senior management team on the latest regulations and best practices in health and safety, ensuring that all company processes comply with relevant laws and guidelines. Responsibilities will include: Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures that comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Stay up to date with changes in legislation and ensure the company’s practices remain compliant. Conduct risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate control measures to mitigate risks. This includes evaluating manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities to ensure they meet health and safety standards. Lead safety audits and carry out investigations of accidents or incidents, identifying root causes and making recommendations for preventive measures. Maintain accurate records of incidents and ensure necessary reporting to regulatory authorities. Collaborate with senior management, department heads, and employees to raise awareness of health and safety issues, promote a culture of safety, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Manage the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented and followed up. Provide expert advice and guidance to employees on health and safety matters, as well as delivering relevant training and awareness programs. Monitor and report on safety performance using KPIs, audits, and incident investigations. Prepare regular H&S reports for senior leadership. Act as the liaison between the company and regulatory authorities, ensuring all necessary permits, licenses, and certifications are obtained and maintained. Maintain health and safety records and documentation, and liaising with external agencies and stakeholders as required. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in health and safety legislation and industry best practice, ensuring the business remains compliant and forward-looking. You will have the following experience/qualifications: NEBOSH certificate or NEBOSH Diploma Ability to assess complex situations and make decisions quickly, often under pressure Significant experience of health and safety in a laboratory setting Ability to work proactively and independently Strong organisational skills Proficient in Microsoft Office basic (Word, Excel & Outlook) We are not accepting agency applications for this role
