Overview
This is a key role in fulfilling the wider needs of our pharmacy branches by supporting the provision of pharmacy services remotely. We are looking for an innovative and driven pharmacist to join our team, where you’ll play a key role in the future of pharmacy services. While working in a remote setting, you will provide a range of services over the telephone to our patients, with a strong emphasis on customer care. The role operates on a hybrid arrangement; the successful candidate will primarily work from home with ad hoc attendance at the office for meetings and collaboration as required.
Job Responsibilities
* Act as a point of contact for our pharmacies by conducting remote service consultations via telephone and/or video call, supporting patients with medication adherence, addressing concerns or side effects, and providing evidence-based advice in line with NHS guidelines.
* Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding prescriptions, suggesting changes or alternative treatments when appropriate.
* Assist patients in managing long-term conditions by providing guidance on medication adherence and lifestyle modifications.
* Provide information about potential side effects and answer questions about medications.
* Promote wellness by educating patients on preventive health measures and offering advice to support overall wellbeing.
* Counsel patients on the correct usage of prescribed medicines to maximise benefits and ensure safe, effective care.
* Review prescriptions for accuracy, suitability and legality; oversee the correct use of electronic tools to ensure smooth operations, timely claims processing and regulatory compliance.
* Maintain up-to-date registration and stay informed on new pharmacy legislation and guidelines; ensure all activities comply with legal and professional standards.
* Review labels, doses and preparation methods to guarantee safety and legal compliance in every aspect of dispensing; act as a knowledgeable resource for healthcare professionals and provide pharmaceutical care information as needed.
* Counsel healthcare providers on drug therapies, therapeutic alternatives, and potential side effects to support patient safety and effective care.
* Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and staying informed of new industry developments to enhance service offerings; maintain patient and colleague confidentiality at all times.
* Support the Operations team by working as Responsible Pharmacist in-branch when required to meet business demands.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Degree in a relevant qualification; registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and eligible to work in the UK.
* Essential: Accountable for own professional conduct in line with GPhC Standards and guidance for pharmacy professionals, including distance/online services.
* Essential: Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
* Essential: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen and engage effectively; caring and empathetic approach with strong confidentiality and literacy/numeracy abilities.
* Knowledge of Lincolnshire Co-op values and the ability to support our purpose and approach.
* Experience with high standards of clinical record keeping and a methodical, accurate approach to tasks.
Desirable
* Experience with remote or telepharmacy services and a track record of continual professional development.
Appointment Details
* Salary: Depending on experience, approximately £53k–£56k per annum
* Contract: Permanent
