Mechanical Engineer | Product Development Consultancy | West Midlands | Mostly on-site
KG MedTech Recruitment Specialists are recruiting Mechanical Engineers for a busy product development consultancy in the Midlands. This is a proper design-and-build environment you’ll work on a mix of projects across multiple sectors (including safety-critical medical devices), taking concepts through CAD, prototype build, test and iteration.
You’ll be part of a multi-functional team (mechanical, electronics, software, design), so you need to be comfortable collaborating, moving fast, and owning your technical output.
What you’ll be doing
* Mechanical design from early concept through to prototype build + test
* Using CAD and CAE tools to develop and validate designs (hand calcs / FEA / simulation where relevant)
* Designing with manufacturability in mind (rapid prototyping through to injection moulding / machining / sheet metal etc.)
* Leading specific work packages and taking responsibility for technical delivery (with senior support available for review/checking)
* Supporting and checking more junior engineers where needed
* Communicating clearly with colleagues (and occasionally clients) to explain design decisions
What matters for this one
* Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent broad-based engineering qualification)
* 3+ years post-grad in product design / development (consultancy experience ideal, not essential)
* Strong 3D CAD background + evidence you’ve taken designs through prototype + test
* Comfortable juggling multiple projects and switching context quickly
