Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools – Chichester, West Sussex

GSL Education are currently looking to appoint full-time Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in Chichester, West Sussex, starting from September 2025. This is a brilliant opportunity for aspiring teachers, recent graduates, or experienced individuals looking to gain meaningful classroom exposure. You’ll have the flexibility to choose your working days—up to five per week—making it an ideal role for those balancing other commitments.
The role involves leading lessons in the absence of the class teacher, helping students engage with set work, and ensuring behaviour standards are upheld in line with school policies.
To be a successful Cover Supervisor (CS), what you have to do:
* Supervise lessons across various subjects during teacher absences
* Promote positive behaviour and maintain classroom discipline
* Adapt quickly to different school environments and classroom dynamics
* Ensure students stay on task, engaged, and complete their assigned work
* Manage classroom behaviour professionally and in line with school expectations
* Deliver clear instructions to students and provide basic guidance where necessary
* Respond confidently to classroom situations and offer support where required
* Support students in developing independent learning skills
* Liaise with teaching staff to feedback on student behaviour and participation
* Ensure a safe, calm, and respectful classroom environment
What we need from you:
* Excellent classroom management and confidence in leading groups of students
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* A proactive and flexible approach to covering a variety of lessons
* Suitable for graduates or those considering teacher training
* Prior experience working as a Cover Supervisor or similar role in secondary schools is desirable.
* CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare is desirable but not essential.
* Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
