Are you experienced in supporting children or young people one-to-one and looking for flexible work?
We are seeking an English tutor to work directly with children and young people to help them meet the academic standards of their peers. This role involves encouraging pupils outside of mainstream settings, often at their residential homes.
About the role:
You will deliver engaging, informative face-to-face sessions focused on improving pupils’ English skills.
Work alongside schools or social workers to support pupils in alternative education provisions.
Plan lessons and resources tailored to each child’s individual learning needs, with a focus on developing their English knowledge and skills.
Create creative and motivating lessons to help pupils catch up with their peers.
Use behaviour management strategies and coping mechanisms to support pupils who may have additional behavioural needs.
Locations will vary based on pupil needs but will be agreed upon before starting tuition.
What we’re looking for in an English tutor:
Specialist knowledge in English or proven experience teaching the subject.
Experience working with children or young people.
Ability to implement a variety of behaviour management and coping strategies.
Skills in planning and delivering core and cross-curricular English sessions.
Proven ability to help pupils improve their literacy and achieve their learning goals.
Experience with SEN pupils is desirable.
Ability to monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
You must provide evidence of your skills and experience relevant to the role.
A current DBS certificate (registered with the update service) is required. Teaching Personnel can support you with this if needed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
