AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual to work within the progressive world of women’s football at Tier 3, supporting elite female footballers.
The role is for Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join the Medical department. The Medical Therapist will play a key role in the club’s long-term vision.
The successful candidate will work with a Tier 3 women’s football team, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation support for all women’s players from the 1st team, and occasionally with pathway players.
Applicants should be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This is a great opportunity for proactive individuals passionate about football, offering internal CPD opportunities and the chance to stay current with industry literature, scope of practice, and practical skills development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide emergency first aid during training sessions and matches
* Conduct clinical assessments of injured players prior to games
* Maintain detailed injury and treatment records and upload them to our platform
* Communicate regularly with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and players regarding injuries and player availability
* Participate in in-house CPD sessions
* Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensure compliance with club policies including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
* Hold a BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* Be registered with HCPC, BASRat, or SST
* Possess in-date EMFAif qualification and commit to annual reaccreditation
* Be willing to work with high-level athletes, including injury management and rehabilitation planning
* Have medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
* Ability to play or participate in football at a high level
* Hold an MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
