Whole School Approach Practitioner – Selby

We offer a new, exciting service working with young people focusing on prevention and early intervention. The Wellbeing in Mind Team delivers evidence‑based early interventions across education settings in North Yorkshire.
The Team has three functions:
* Support the development of a whole school (or college) approach (WSA) to wellbeing, including policy development, resource creation, campaign support and training.
* Provide timely advice and consultation to educational staff, building confidence to support students' wellbeing.
* Deliver direct assessments and low intensity interventions using cognitive‑behavioural therapy for young people.
We are looking to recruit a WSA Practitioner to coordinate WSA activities and resources in Selby.
Hours: 30 hours per week.
Main duties
* Develop, monitor and implement the WSA approach in schools with limited supervision, directed by the Leadership team.
* Coordinate resources and plan service/staff time for WSA interventions.
* Engage with schools, colleges and stakeholders across the service.
* Promote recovery and wellbeing for children and young people with mental ill health.
* Show compassion towards children, young people and carers.
* Promote social inclusion, positive wellbeing cultures, community participation through whole‑school interventions and collaboration.
Person specification
Qualifications and Experience
* NVQ3, HNC/NND or equivalent qualification in health, education or business administration.
* Literacy and numeracy level 2, or O level / GCSE in Maths and English grade C or above.
* Experience working in an education setting supporting children and young people.
* Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to health or education.
Knowledge
* Understanding of mental health disorders in children and young people and their impact on families/carers.
* Understanding of education settings and systems, including whole‑school approach.
Skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and other required applications.
* Experience partnering with schools, health and other stakeholders across organisational boundaries.
* High‑quality verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to adapt approach to audience for effective outcomes.
* Ability to promote diversity and provide guidance and challenge.
* Knowledge of the national Mental Health Support Team programme and associated drivers.
* Awareness of safeguarding policies.
* Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively.
* Understanding of programme/project working principles and tools.
* Experience using audit and assessment, creating and delivering action plans.
* Ability to deliver service and make decisions under conflicting demands.

Salary and Contract
£28,392 to £31,157 a year (pro rata per annum)
