Schools Enrichment Teacher – Contract term: Permanent • Hours: Full time, 37 hours over 5 days • Location: ACT Schools, Ocean Park House, Cardiff, CF24 5ET • Starting Salary: £30,595 rising to £35,870 per annum (£29,595 unqualified)
The Role
ACT School is a registered independent school supporting young people aged 11–16 who have been excluded, are at risk of exclusion, are school phobic, or classed as vulnerable. We are seeking a positive, caring, and enthusiastic Enrichment Teacher to join our dedicated team. You will plan and deliver engaging enrichment activities and experiential learning opportunities designed to inspire learners, develop their personal growth, and improve wellbeing. Teaching will take place in small groups, enabling you to build strong relationships with learners and tailor activities to meet their needs. This role is perfect for someone with creativity, patience, and resilience who can engage young people facing barriers to education and help them achieve their full potential.
What you’ll be doing
* Planning and delivering high-quality enrichment activities and lessons that focus on personal growth, wellbeing, and experiential learning.
* Supporting learners with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties (BESD) to engage positively in education.
* Working with learners who may have specific needs such as ADHD, dyslexia, or low-level ability, adapting your approach to suit individual requirements.
* Creating inclusive, engaging opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.
* Contributing to curriculum development and supporting ESTYN requirements.
* Building strong, positive relationships with learners, colleagues, and external partners.
What we’re looking for
* A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviours or are disengaged from education.
* A creative and flexible approach to teaching, with the ability to adapt to different needs.
* Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and inclusive teaching methods.
* Passion for supporting personal growth and wellbeing in young people.
* Resilience, patience, and the ability to build trust with learners from diverse backgrounds.
