The successful Brighton Quantity Surveyor candidate will support a range of construction projects across the South East of England. These include residential, mixed-use and commercial developments where cost control, reporting and fund monitoring services are provided to clients.
Responsibilities and Duties
This Assistant Cost Consultant job will involve working closely with senior surveyors while taking increasing responsibility for delivering cost consulting services.
Typical duties will include:
1. Assisting with cost planning, cost reporting and financial control on construction projects
2. Supporting fund monitoring services, including review of drawdowns, valuations and lender reports
3. Preparing written reports and professional advice for clients and funders
4. Assisting with procurement, tender analysis and contract administration duties
5. Attending site inspections and meetings across the South East of England
6. Working both independently and as part of a small consultancy team
7. Maintaining accurate project records and supporting best practice cost management

8. Post-degree experience in quantity surveying, cost consulting or a related construction role
9. A strong understanding of construction costs, budgets and project management principles

11. Good written and verbal communication skills suitable for client-facing work
12. Strong attention to detail and a professional approach to reporting
13. Ability to manage workload independently while contributing positively to a team environment
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
14. A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is essential
15. Candidates will ideally be working towards MRICS accreditation
16. Driving licence and car is essential
