We are looking for a Principal RAMMS Engineer within our Rail infrastructure business. Within this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all safety assurance and RAMMSS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety, and Security) requirements for all delivery projects within their designated portfolio are successfully implemented. This role aligns closely with the customer acceptance and approval authorities, Project Delivery and R&D teams.
Within this role, you will report to the Head of Safety Assurance and assist with the overall leadership of the department and provide strategic functional support to the local business unit, specifically in application safety. As the successful candidate, you will be based at one of our Mobility locations and may be expected to travel as part of the role.
You’ll make an impact by
1. Consistently having portfolio responsibility ensuring all projects are supported from a RAMMSS perspective; collaborating closely with senior management and embedding assurance activities into day-to-day operational delivery
2. Undertaking responsibilities of a Senior RAMMSS Engineer to support critical delivery milestones
3. Engaging in all project phases; tender, budget, requirements and delivery and ensure all RAMSS-related requirements are implemented
4. Providing management, guidance and direction with the development of Specific Application Safety Cases associated with projects delivered from the regional offices
5. Maintaining positive relationships with Railway Operators and acceptance bodies to support smooth approvals and collaboration
6. Having line management responsibility for the safety assurance engineers assigned to the Main Line projects and actively handling the interface between customer approval bodies and projects
Your success will be grounded by
7. An Engineering qualification
8. Working knowledge of ISO9001, the CSM regulations, CENELEC EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129
9. Extensive experience in RAMMSS and Validation
10. A good understanding of signalling systems and products covering ETCS, Control Systems, Interlockings and Train Detection
11. In depth knowledge of customer acceptance and approvals processes (within Network Rail is advantageous) for both bespoke and interoperable systems
12. Experience of design techniques and knowledge of all phases of the design lifecycle
