Commercial law firm in Reading is looking to recruit a Commercial lawyer of 0 to 2 years’ PQE. If you are due to qualify shortly (and have completed at least one seat in Commercial) or have been qualified for up to two years and are looking for a fresh challenge with outstanding colleagues, this role could be the perfect opportunity for you. The team acts across a wide range of sectors, but has particular expertise in the technology, automotive and construction industries. Clients range from large international corporations to owner managed businesses to start-ups and scale-ups. This role will be ideal for someone who wants to undertake a wide range of commercial, technology, intellectual property and non-contentious construction work. The caseload will include contract drafting and negotiation (including appointments, building contracts and warranties on construction projects) as well as advising on data protection and intellectual property matters and providing due diligence support on corporate and banking transactions. You’ll build your experience working collaboratively on some challenging matters whilst also running your own caseload of more straightforward matters (with an appropriate level of Partner supervision depending on your PQE). The successful candidate may also have opportunities to work in-house, for some of the team’s clients on a remote or flexible basis and to assist with the in-house retainer services that the team operates – giving a unique insight into private practice and in-house work. You will possess a highly developed sense of commercial acumen – clients are looking for real world solutions, not “perfect” theoretical answers. Being able to bridge the gap between what would be ideal legally and what will work in practical terms is essential to succeed in this role. Solicitors are encouraged to take a proactive role in building relationships with their clients and professional contacts and establishing their own network from an early stage. As you will be joining a growing team and firm, you will be expected to be involved in a range of marketing and business development activities. This may include presenting webinars or seminars, attending networking events, writing articles, LinkedIn engagement, client visits or meetings, and building internal relationships within the firm.
