This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and experience in immunisations within our Children and Young People\'s Immunisation Service in Croydon.
As a Senior Immunisation Nurse you will be responsible for planning, delivery and evaluation of the school immunisation programme.
The role also includes being able to assess and understand the prerequisites of giving an immunization, understanding the contraindications, the aftercare and the relevant advice to give to the parents/carers. You must be able to provide support, mentorship, guidance and supervision to junior nursing staff and administrative staff members of the Immunisation service.
You will be required to be flexible. When not working with the school aged Immunisation, you may be required to support the Hep B team or BCG team.
Main duties of the job
This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and experience with children and young people within our Immunisation service. The established team is expanding with the immunisation service needs. You will work as a senior immunisation nurse for school aged Immunisation service.
As the Senior Immunisation Nurse, you will be responsible for planning, delivering and staffing for the school aged immunisation service. When not working with the school immunisation service, you may be required to support the BCG team or Hep B team. You will be supported by the Immunisation lead.
This will include being able to assess infants and children and understand the prerequisites of giving an immunisation, understanding the contra-indications, the aftercare and the relevant advice to give to the young person.

Qualifications
* RN Adult (NMC registered) or RN Children (NMC registered) or RMHN (NMC registered) or RM (NMC registered)
* A second professional nursing qualification e.g. SCPHN (Health Visitor, School Nurse, Practice Nurse, Occupational health)
Experience
* Previous experience of effective team working/good team player
* Experience of working in primary or community care or working with children & young people
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to prioritise work, good starter-finisher
* Able to demonstrate effective communication skills using a variety of communication strategies for children and young people
* Experience managing and/or supervising staff
