Job Description
Role: RTA Fee Earner (MOJ Portal) Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid We are working with a well-established specialist claimant law firm seeking to strengthen its Personal Injury department with the addition of an experienced RTA Fee Earner. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background handling MOJ Portal claims who is looking to take ownership of their own caseload within a structured, performance-driven environment that still prioritises quality client care.
The Role
As an RTA Fee Earner, you will manage your own caseload of low-value road traffic accident claims through the MOJ Portal, from initial instruction through to settlement. You will play a key role in progressing claims efficiently while ensuring compliance with the MOJ Protocol and Civil Procedure Rules. You'll be joining a supportive and collaborative team, with clear expectations and the opportunity to further develop your technical expertise within a busy claimant practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing a caseload of MOJ Portal RTA claims across Stages 1, 2 and 3
* Ensuring compliance with MOJ Protocol deadlines and CPR requirements
* Reviewing liability evidence and medical reports
* Preparing and submitting Stage 2 Settlement Packs
* Negotiating settlements with insurers to achieve the best outcomes for clients
* Preparing Stage 3 documentation where settlement cannot be reached
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case management records
* Providing clear advice and regular updates to clients
* Liaising with insurers, medical agencies and third parties
* Working towards KPIs relating to settlements, lifecycle and file quality
* Identifying cases that require removal from the Portal and escalating appropriately
About You
Essential:
* Proven experience handling RTA claims within the MOJ Portal
* Strong working knowledge of the MOJ Protocol and Civil Procedure Rules
* Experience negotiating with insurers
* Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet deadlines
* Excellent communication and client care skills
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Confident using case management systems and Microsoft Office
Desirable:
* Experience preparing Stage 3 documentation or assisting with hearings
* Ability to identify liability disputes or potential fraud indicators
* Proactive, self-motivated and resilient approach
* Ambition to develop a long-term career in personal injury litigation
