Capilaux is assisting in the hiring process for a Senior Bridges Engineer to join our York team and play a key role in the delivery of exciting projects across the UK, predominantly within the rail, infrastructure, and transportation sectors.
We’re seeking a proactive, client-focused engineer with a solid technical background and leadership experience. You should be ready to grow with the business and help shape the future of the company.
Responsibilities
* Degree-qualified and Chartered (or sitting your review within 12 months – ICE/IstructE)
* 6+ years’ experience in a design environment
* Design experience with structures such as bridges, tunnels, stations, and buildings across materials including concrete, steel, timber, and masonry
* CRE-level experience in bridge refurbishment and renewals
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Project management experience, including financial oversight and coordinating design activities
* Experience managing small teams (2–4 people) and multi-discipline commissions
* Confident in a client-facing, work-winning capacity
* Full UK driving licence
* Delivering and developing conceptual and detailed designs
* Leading technical inputs and design checks across key structural projects
* Using design software to perform structural calculations and analysis
* Representing the business at client and stakeholder meetings
* Managing small and medium-sized projects from scoping to completion
* Mentoring and supporting junior staff
* Site inspections and structural investigations
* Contributing to fee proposals and business development activity
You’ll report directly to the York Office Lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across our offices in UK.
