This role assists the Project Manager and Construction Manager in project delivery and site engineering/setting out, ensuring safe delivery of the project to time, cost and quality requirements. The main project is a highways project which requires bridge examinations and general engineering duties around the M40 junction 10-12.
Key Tasks
* Technical Assurance of Construction Works
* Verify that works are constructed in accordance with:
o Approved designs
o Risk assessments (RAMS)
o Inspection / test regimes
* Provide daily engineering assurance on site
* Identify deviations from design or method and escalate
* Inspection, Verification and Records
* Undertake or support:
o Setting out and dimensional checks
o Inspection of safety-critical works
o Verification of construction activities (e.g. pours, groundworks, installation)
* Maintain accurate engineering records and evidence
* Support hold, witness and inspection points within the Engineering Management Plan
* Temporary Works Implementation (TWS-type functions where delegated)
Where Acting As Or Supporting a TWS
* Supervise:
o Installation of temporary works
o Inspection prior to loading / use
o Removal and dismantling
* Ensure works are only implemented in accordance with approved designs and permits
* No authority for design approval or change
* Monitoring Compliance and Escalation
* Identify:
o Non-conformances
o Deviations from design or RAMS
o Unsafe or uncontrolled works
* Escalate issues to:
o TWC / Construction Manager / DI as appropriate
* Prevent progression of non-compliant work activities
* Engineering Input into Planning and Sequencing
* Support:
o Constructability reviews
o Sequencing of works
o Interface coordination (temporary/permanent works)
* Assist in defining:
o Safe build methodology
o Logical construction stages
* Evidence, Records and Golden Thread
* Produce and maintain:
o Inspection records
o Verification data
o As-built information
* Contribute to the project evidence base required under:
o Building Safety Act 2022
o Engineering Management Plan requirements
* Support to Dutyholder Framework (CDM 2015)
* Act as a key enabler of dutyholder compliance by:
o Monitoring construction works
o Providing real-time assurance
o Supporting risk control implementation
* Ensure work is:
o Planned
o Managed
o Monitored safely on site
Qualifications & Experience Required
* Civil Engineering degree
* Bridges & structures examinations experience
* Highways experience as a Site Engineer (not essential)
* Organising and managing ITP's
* SMSTS/SSSTS
* CSCS
