Job Details

A full-time permanent vacancy has arisen for a qualified Social Worker to work within the Shared Lives Fife Service.

Shared Lives Fife provides support within households across Fife. The service is currently supported by a small team of social workers and Shared Lives Carers. Carers are supported by their Shared Lives social worker, who carefully match carers and service users, monitor the well- being of the service user and support the Shared Lives carer.

Shared Lives Fife provides people with a learning or physical disability, mental health or impairment, or other health or sensory disabilities the opportunity to live in a family home with people or families who will support them to be part of their home and community.

The successful candidates will hold a diploma in Social Work (or equivalent). Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) will also be considered. The successful candidates will work in, working with those from 16 years, with a range of needs. This includes those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health difficulties and sensory impairment.

Experience of working in Adults Services would be advantageous but not essential. However, the successful candidate should have the ability to work creatively in a solution-focused way and can demonstrate a positive and committed attitude towards working within a team.

The successful candidates will be expected to carry out a range of carer assessments and support planning as well as possessing the following professional qualities:

1. Has a solid understanding of the principles of evidence-based practice

2. Is passionate about ensuring that rights-based legislation is applied in accordance with the underpinning principles and Codes of Practice

3. Has experience of working with adults who are also affected Learning, Physical and/or Mental Health disabilities in a range of care settings.

4. Has a solid understanding of the principles of integrated practice

5. Is passionate about ensuring the delivery of person-centred services in line with the principles of the National Care Standards, National Wellbeing Outcomes, H&SCP Strategic Objectives and the SSSC Codes of Practice.

6. Can form relationships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively with them to improve outcomes for service users

7. Has excellent IT skills

8. Has excellent report writing skills

The Person

You are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment of this role and to complete the required post registration training and learning (PRTL) over the registration period.

Degree in social work (or equivalent).

Knowledge and understanding of child/adult protection guidelines.

Registration with the SSSC.

Ability to travel within Fife.

Can contribute positively to the Shared Lives Service.

We provide training aligned to the principles of the National Induction Framework

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.

If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.

If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.
