Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with our specialist food services client on the appointment of Food Safety & Technical Assistant for their Newtownards based site. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will support in all areas of Quality, Safety & Legality within the business, ensuring products meet customer expectations. This role will be a 12-month fixed term contract with view to extend. What your day to day will look like: Maintain and develop the Quality Manual and management systems to meet BRCGS and customer standards, including managing audits and supporting the HACCP team with reviews, risk assessments, and product flows. Liaise with customers, suppliers, Procurement, and Sales to resolve quality and food safety issues, ensuring product compliance with internal and external standards. Approve, manage, and monitor suppliers and service providers to ensure compliance with supplier approval criteria and traceability throughout the supply chain. Handle customer complaints and non-conformances, ensuring timely corrective actions and continuous improvement in product safety, legality, authenticity, and quality. Manage the completion and updating of product specifications, oversee staff training, and promote a positive food safety culture across the business. What you will need to succeed: Clean UK/EU driving license. Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working in a Quality / Technical role and/or a Third level qualification Degree or HNC/D in a relevant food related discipline or proven relevant experience. Ability to effectively plan and organise to meet deadlines. Strong IT skills and an ability to record and present information in a concise format. The ability to work well under pressure and to play your role in a busy team environment. Excellent communicator with positive leadership skills Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
