Our client, a leading entity within the buildings sector, is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Building Surveyor to join their Property Services Team on a contract basis. This key role supports the effective management and maintenance of a varied portfolio of council-owned assets, including operational service buildings, commercial shops and industrial units, leisure trust facilities, and historic and heritage buildings. You will be vital in ensuring these properties are safe, well-maintained, and fit for purpose, contributing to the delivery of high-quality services to the communities. Key Responsibilities: Manage and respond to reactive maintenance issues across the property portfolio Plan and deliver cyclical and preventative maintenance programmes Lead refurbishment and improvement projects, particularly for commercial and industrial premises Undertake building condition surveys and prepare technical reports Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, health and safety standards, and council policies Liaise with contractors, consultants, and internal departments to ensure efficient service delivery Provide professional advice on building-related matters to support strategic asset management Produce Schedule of Condition and dilapidation reports for the Estates Manager Set up contracts, produce Contract Documents (i.e. JCT), Contract Management Job Requirements: Experience managing a range of property types, including commercial, industrial, leisure, and historic buildings Strong technical knowledge of building maintenance, refurbishment, and construction practices Excellent project management and communication skills A relevant qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline A proactive, solution-focused approach and commitment to public service values Experience of using AutoCAD and producing dwg drawings People management experience Benefits: A supportive and collaborative working environment Opportunities for professional development and training Flexible working arrangements Local government pension scheme Generous annual leave entitlement If you are an experienced Building Surveyor looking for a new opportunity to further your career within a dynamic team, we would love to hear from you.
