We are currently looking for a General Assistant to join our friendly team working at an independent Garden Nursery.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has strong communication skills, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
This is a part-time position however, working Saturdays is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
* Welcome and assist customers visiting the nursery
* Provide outstanding customer service, addressing customer needs and enquiries
* Process sales transactions and, when required, assist customers with carrying purchases to their vehicles
* Answer telephone calls, handle queries, and direct information to the appropriate departments
* Manage stock levels, place orders, and receive deliveries
* Support colleagues as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
* Assist with organising sales events and promotions
* Maintain an organised, well-stocked, and visually appealing sales area
* Carry out outdoor duties including watering, gardening, and maintaining plant stock and flower beds
* Work independently and use initiative when required
Experience & Skills Required:
* Previous experience in a sales or customer service role (essential)
* Experience with plants, gardening, or nursery work (preferred)
* Friendly, polite, and approachable manner
* Strong spoken English
* Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
* Basic numeracy skills for processing transactions and calculating prices or discounts
We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic individual who is comfortable with physical work and enjoys being outdoors. A passion for gardening or plant knowledge would be a strong advantage.
Hours are flexible and may vary depending on the season. We are willing to offer flexibility for the right candidate.
