Waste Chemist Location: West Bromwich, West Midlands Employment Type: Full-time Reporting To: Technical / Operations Manager Job Purpose The Waste Chemist is responsible for the safe classification, assessment, handling, and processing of chemical waste streams in compliance with UK environmental legislation. The role supports efficient waste management operations while ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and environmental protection. Key Responsibilities * Assess, classify, and characterise incoming chemical waste streams in line with UK regulations (including Hazardous Waste Regulations, Environmental Permitting Regulations, and Duty of Care). * Conduct laboratory analysis to determine waste composition, compatibility, and appropriate treatment or disposal routes. * Ensure accurate completion and review of waste documentation, including consignment notes, SDS, and internal records. * Support site operations by providing technical guidance on waste segregation, storage, treatment, and disposal. * Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, including COSHH and REACH requirements. * Liaise with customers, transporters, and regulators as required on technical and compliance matters. * Assist with audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting. * Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, includ...
