About the Role
The BDUK System Safety and Environmental Engineering Team is seeking a non-rotational graduate System Safety Engineer to join our collaborative environment. The System Safety Engineering capability is dedicated to applying rigorous safety engineering tasks to Boeing products and services that enable Boeing’s mission in the UK.
The System Safety Engineering graduate will support the ongoing management of Safety Assessments and associated evidence artefacts for Boeing product and services. Responsibilities will include implementing the BDUK strategy for identifying, managing and mitigating risks relating to Boeing products and services, in accordance with the processes defined within Safety Management Plans. This will require the graduate to develop a level of understanding of the scope and definition of aircraft systems and services to enable safety issues to be identified, analysed and designing options for improvement and/or control.
This role provides the opportunity for the System Safety Engineering graduate to:
1. Develop a thorough understanding for the application of System Safety Engineering processes required to establish and maintain an acceptable level of safety.
2. Gain knowledge of safety legislation, policies and standards, and collaborate across engineering functions to achieve compliance.
3. Support the development of programme safety documentation required to meet contractual deliverables.
4. Understand how safety concerns are presented across stakeholders.
This position may require occasional UK or international travel.
Basic Skills and Qualifications
5. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
6. Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
7. Good communication skills, with the ability to convey information to diverse audiences.
8. Collaborative mindset with a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment.
9. UK National status is required, and candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
10. Strong interest in understanding how safety engineering activities enable safe products and services.
11. Strong interest in understanding UK safety legislation, military environmental regulations and defence safety standards
