Role Purpose: Joining the Quality team and reporting to the Quality Manager, the Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the BMS (Business Management System), and assigning tasks to and supporting the Quality Engineers. Key Responsibilities: Supporting the maintenance and continual improvement of the BMS to ensure that the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 and other common defence standards are satisfied. Administering the internal audit schedule and conducting internal audits to monitor operation and effectiveness of the BMS and to facilitate continual improvement. Ensuring that appropriate corrective actions, resulting from recorded material and process non-conformances, are implemented and effective. Development of BMS elements with process-owners including process, procedure & operating instructions. Customer-facing liaison on Quality issues, participating in regular customer calls and visits to Chess site and working to resolve issues. Actively participate in design gateway reviews to ensure requirements are being met. Reviewing customer bids and contracts for Quality requirements and preparation of Quality Plans. Fault analysis and reports on customer returns. Skills & Experience Essential Experienced in the management of a BMS/QMS within a design and manufacturing environment. Qualified to minimum HNC/HND or relevant equivalent; (Engineering related discipline is highly desirable). A confident and credible communicator, able to interact plausibly in all settings within the business. Experienced in managing and conducting audits. Experienced in “8D” problem solving methodology within an SME and with suppliers, including use of 5-Whys and Ishikawa/Cause and effect diagrams. Able to create and develop clear and concise BMS/QMS elements including processes, procedures, and workflows. Desirable Experience within electro-mechanical defence-based industry applying AQAP2110 and/or AS9100 QMS standards. Experience in Design Assurance roles. CQI or IRCA member.
