The CCS team at Durham County Council deliver professional services across a range of disciplines. Our primary aim is to deliver capital build projects and programmes of all sizes, value and complexity that surpass customer expectation. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced client-side construction project manager to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and project management of new-build and refurbishment schemes. You will typically be involved from cradle to grave, leading multi-discipline teams through full project lifecycle in line with the RIBA plan of work, to deliver quality projects on time and budget. Our portfolio is comprehensive and includes a rolling programme of circa 160 live projects with an overall portfolio CAPEX of £250M. Projects range from c.£50K to £10m. Projects include educational buildings, sports and leisure facilities, public infrastructure and highways, administration buildings, heritage projects, low carbon projects, social care facilities and a continuous programme of capitalised maintenance condition work. WHAT IS INVOLVED? As Senior Project Manager you will utilise your project management, communication and facilitation skills and take the role of project lead, working closely with clients, end-users, designers, quantity surveyors and contractors to help ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to quality standards in line with the RIBA stages of delivery. You will be involved in the full project lifecycle, helping to shape the client brief prior to managing the appointment of consultants and design teams. Working with procurement and quantity surveying colleagues you will manage the procurement of contractors then move to on-site construction where you will undertake the key role of contract administrator before finally managing the successful handover of the project and passing the keys to the client, taking job satisfaction in the physical bricks and mortar and tangible output you have successfully delivered with your team and colleagues. Degree or equivalent level 6 qualification in a relevant construction related subject or Chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CIOB or CEng.
