We are currently seeking a positive, proactive and well organised individual to join our team as an Education Transport Officer (ALN Focus). You will be joining the Education Transport Team at an exciting time, as we are undertaking a comprehensive review of our current services and provision to ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
As an Education Transport Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient day to day operation of education transport services, with a particular focus on ALN transport provision. You will lead on assessing the needs and eligibility of ALN service user applications and help ensure that learners receive appropriate and reliable travel assistance in line with policy and their individual needs.
Your daily routine will include reviewing and assessing learner travel assistance applications, liaising with schools, families and professional colleagues to coordinate support, providing advice and guidance on education transport processes, maintaining accurate data and records, supporting the handling of appeals and queries, and contributing to ongoing service improvements within the team.
Do you have:
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload
* Experience of working with children and young people, particularly those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), or an understanding of their needs
* The ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidance to real situations
* Experience of working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including schools, families and professionals
* Good administrative skills, with experience of maintaining accurate records and using data systems
* A proactive, positive approach with excellent problem solving skills
* We would welcome those with experience in the following roles: Education Transport Officer, ALN Officer, School Admissions or Attendance Officer, Passenger Transport Coordinator, Family Support Worker, or roles within education, local authority services or customer service environments where coordination and casework are key.
The Education Transport Team is a supportive, collaborative and forward thinking service that plays a vital role in helping children and young people access education every day. We are passionate about delivering a reliable, high quality travel service, particularly for learners with Additional Learning Needs, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
This is an exciting time to join us as we are currently reviewing and developing our services to make them more responsive, efficient and future focused. You will have the opportunity to be part of meaningful change, helping to shape how transport provision is delivered across the authority and influencing outcomes for families and schools.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly and inclusive team where ideas are welcomed and contributions are valued. Working with us means being part of a service that is committed to continuous improvement, professional development and making a real difference in the community.
Choose to work for us and you’ll be rewarded with a range of attractive benefits and support to help you live your best life.
