Job Duties:
You will be joining the team as a qualified Rural Surveyor at an exciting time as we implement our latest strategic review. We are striving for a sustainable Rural Estate where there is an emphasis on protecting and enhancing nature alongside exploring commercial and strategic opportunities. We are already working on exciting projects such as carbon sequestration, biodiversity net gain, tenancy re-organisations, innovative farm re-lettings, and habitat creation.
We are a team of 13 who are responsible for the management of the County Council’s 10,500+ acres of rural property assets spread across Hertfordshire. You will sit along side other Rural Estates Officers in a supportive team which creates a great environment to learn and develop. Your focus will be on the day to day management of the rural property portfolio which will allow you to get to know the assets and deal with matters such as re-lettings, rent reviews, new lease negotiations and much more.
Your work will be both interesting and rewarding with no two days the same. This role will be pivotal in ensuring that the vision contained within the Rural Estate Strategic Plan is made a reality, by inspiring and engaging tenants, implementing new schemes and developing policies to modernise the Estate. The successful applicant will have a great opportunity to gain a broad experience in Rural Estate Management, continue to increase their professional knowledge and work with the team on some of the most complex tenancy matters in Estate Management.
You will be educated to degree standard ideally in a rural property related discipline and be a member of a professional organisation e.g. the RICS Rural Practice Division with at least 2 years PQE or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
We hope the successful applicant will have experience working within the rural sector with a good knowledge of rural property management and the associated legal framework.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with colleagues, tenants, contractors and other internal and external professionals.
You will hold a valid licence to drive in the UK and have your own car as you will need to travel across Hertfordshire to visit the Estate.
