Key Responsibilities:
Inspecting the highway network routinely to identify and document faults in need of repair
Conducting on-site investigations or preparatory investigations for cyclical maintenance activities
Responding to reported faults on the highway network and undertaking necessary investigations
Responding to unforeseen incidents such as flooding, traffic collisions, vehicle fires, and oil spills to ensure safe network operation
Managing and overseeing highway maintenance works to ensure the network is maintained to a safe standard
Implementing reactive, preventative, and cyclical maintenance schemes for highways, footways, cycle routes, carriageways, and public rights of way
Working closely with local communities to meet their aspirations and needs, and keeping them informed of maintenance works
Maintaining open communication with local communities, relevant agencies, and the Communications team during incidents
Job Requirements:
Experience in highway maintenance and inspection
Proficiency in conducting on-site and preparatory investigations
Ability to manage and respond to highway incidents effectively
Capability to oversee and manage highway maintenance works
Strong collaboration skills to work with local communities and stakeholders
Understanding of safety standards and statutory duties related to highway maintenance
Excellent documentation and report-writing skills
Flexibility to work within the provided hours and the potential for on-call duties
