You will play a vital role working with our x‑ray imaging equipment. You will work closely with clinical teams and healthcare science specialists, helping to provide a safe radiation workplace and optimising clinical imaging to ensure patient safety. You will work within the Radiation Science Services (RSS) team to provide a diagnostic radiation imaging and radiation and laser protection service. RSS provides a service to all departments within UHBW using ionising radiation, and to external customers in the region.
Responsibilities
* Quality assure a range of x‑ray imaging equipment
* Work with team members to analyse quality assurance results and produce reports to users of ionising radiation
* Contribute to the development of protocols to evaluate radiation imaging technologies
* Manage the calibration service for the radiography quality assurance meters
* Provide, with others, a staff radiation dose monitoring service
* Carry out staff and environmental dose surveys
* Perform routine patient dosimetry calculations
* Contribute to the training of clinical technologists and new or less experienced employees in own work area
* Assist radiography staff in quality assurance
* Act as an operator under the definitions of the IR(ME)R17 regulations in accordance with Trust policies
* Assist in the physics quality assurance service for artificial optical radiation equipment for children, young people and vulnerable adults
