Managing the Laboratory Function
Responsible for overseeing the Laboratory function of the Company to ensure timely and accurate information delivery to the Technical and Operations Departments. Liaising with the Purchasing function regarding supplier quality performance through incoming goods inspections. Proactively supporting and developing departmental improvement projects.
Principle Accountabilities
1. Supervision of Laboratory Technicians: Oversee daily activities and ensure adherence to standards.
2. Goods Inspection: Assess incoming goods for suitability according to documented procedures.
3. Test Methods: Conduct all tests following international standards or approved procedures.
4. Product Certification Tests: Perform and report hose adhesion tests promptly.
5. Customer Relations: Accommodate customers and their representatives appropriately during visits.
6. Performance Review: Review and report on the Polyurethane pouring department's performance.
7. Laboratory Reports: Ensure timely completion and circulation of reports.
8. Data Monitoring: Maintain and monitor test data within the WinSPC database, alerting staff to concerning trends.
9. Equipment Calibration: Maintain calibration status of all laboratory equipment.
10. Work Coordination: Liaise with requesters to define methodologies and agree on timescales, reporting deviations as needed.
11. Support Functions: Assist departments in investigations, corrective actions, incident reports, and audits.
12. Safety and Maintenance: Ensure safe operation of testing units and maintain a safe, visitor-friendly laboratory environment.
13. Procedures and Training: Maintain departmental procedures and work instructions; establish and record training activities.
14. Performance Reporting: Report departmental performance quarterly.
15. Compliance: Fulfill all job requirements in accordance with the Code of Conduct.

Qualifications and Experience
Experience Required
* At least 5 years in a similar manufacturing role.
* Proven success in driving improvement actions.
* Experience with ISO 9001 or similar standards.
* Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams at all levels.
Knowledge Required
* Chemistry or materials science
* Laboratory functions and techniques
* Laboratory equipment and testing methods
Qualifications / Skills
* Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Materials, or Engineering
* Leadership and team motivation skills
* Effective communication and motivation abilities
