Restaurant Assistant Manager - Webbs, Cheltenham
We are looking for an experienced Restaurant Assistant Manager to join our friendly Restaurant team at our store in Cheltenham. We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager to join our Hospitality team at our Cheltenham store. You will play a key role in the smooth running of our restaurant. Working closely with the Restaurant Manager, you’ll lead day-to-day operations, support the team, and ensure our guests enjoy outstanding service every time they visit. You’ll take ownership of operational leadership, people development, and commercial performance, stepping up to deputise for the Restaurant Manager when required. While you won’t hold full accountability for the restaurant’s overall performance, your influence will be felt across every service.
Responsibilities
* Lead daily restaurant operations and ensure excellent service.
* Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming front-of-house environment.
* Handle customer queries and complaints professionally.
* Support stock control, ordering, and cost management.
* Train, coach, and support the restaurant team.
* Assist with recruitment, rotas, and team communication.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
* Support menu changes, promotions, and service improvements.
* Deputise for the Restaurant Manager when required.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have experience of:
* At least 1 year of experience in a hospitality or restaurant environment, ideally in a supervisory or team-leading role.
* Proven experience leading and motivating a team, including giving feedback, coaching, and supporting performance.
* Hands-on operational experience in a fast-paced food and beverage setting.
* Experience handling customer queries and complaints, resolving issues calmly and professionally.
* Experience with stock control, ordering, and basic cost management (e.g., labour, wastage, rotas).
* Confidence working with technology, including EPOS systems and Microsoft Office tools.
* Experience working to food safety, hygiene, and allergen standards.
Desirable Experience
* Experience working as an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, or Team Leader in a restaurant, café, or similar environment.
* Experience using multiple EPOS/till systems.
* Familiarity with the Opus platform.
* Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, or training of team members.
* Experience contributing to sales targets, promotions, or service improvement projects.
This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week. The role is based at our store in Cheltenham, and living within a reasonable commuting distance is a must. Our reward package includes a generous benefits package including colleague discounts, life insurance, pension scheme and free parking.
