Location: Ossett – easy commute from Dewsbury, Wakefield, Mirfield, Horbury & surrounding areas
Salary: £101.40 – £120 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants for a highly respected SEND school in Ossett, supporting pupils aged 11-16 year olds with autism, communication difficulties (including non-verbal learners), complex learning needs, sensory challenges, and medical needs.
This is an ideal role for experienced SEN staff, psychology, criminology, or education graduates, youth workers, and care professionals looking to make a meaningful impact while developing their skills in a supportive, structured environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs
2. Supporting communication through Makaton, PECS, visuals, and sensory strategies
3. Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour in a safe, nurturing environment
4. Assisting with personal care and medical needs (training provided)
5. Delivering structured learning and sensory activities
6. Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and behaviour specialists to meet EHCP targets
Who We’re Looking For:
7. Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, autism, SEMH, or complex needs
8. Calm, patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
9. Strong communication and teamwork skills
10. Commitment to full-time, term-time work (Mon–Fri, 8:30–3:30)
11. Ideally local to Ossett or willing to commute from Dewsbury, Wakefield, Mirfield, or surrounding areas
Desirable backgrounds: SEN support, youth work, residential care, psychology, criminology, behaviour mentoring, care support
