Job Description: The F-35 programme is the world's largest single defence programme and the Lightning Delivery Team are behind the most advanced and connected military aircraft in the world. With responsibility for the acquisition and sustainment of the UK's F-35 Lightning II aircraft and associated mission, training, and support systems this is a combined effort of both civilian and military staff across a multitude of professions and locations. This could be your opportunity to join them as we are looking for a Maintenance Systems Integration and Airworthiness Products Manager. Working out of the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office in Arlington, Virginia you will act as the Maintenance Systems Program Management Office (PMO) Integration and Safety Manager. The PMO mission is to ensure the development, implementation, and sustainment of an affordable information system environment to enable Autonomic Logistics for the war-fighter and maintainer. Your responsibility will be the development and sustainment of the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) and the development of the system that will replace it, the F-35 Operational Data Integrated Network (ODIN). This is a full-time role of 37 hours per week with a tour length of 3 years, and the successful applicant will take up the post in the UK prior to relocating to the USA. Based from either Bristol or RAF Marham this will allow time to fully prepare for the overseas move, gain a baseline understanding of the F-35 international program, UK Lightning Delivery Team processes, and complete the relocation process (which will take at a minimum six months). About the Lightning Delivery Team The F-35B aircraft is a fifth-generation multi-user combat aircraft with advanced sensors, mission systems and stealth technology. It is jointly manned by the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force and will deliver an affordable, sustainable, expeditionary air power capability for the UK. The F-35 program is the world's largest single defence programme with the US leading seven other partner nations. The UK has played a major role from the outset in the system design and demonstration phase, resulting in significant contracts and jobs for UK industry. The team is made up of approximately 200 roles from across five of the main Professions, which include Engineering, Project Delivery, Operational Delivery, Commercial & Corporate Operations. The team is headquartered at Abbey Wood Bristol, with satellite locations at RAF Marham and in the US. The F35 Joint Program Office is a multinational, US hosted organisation based in the USA with headquarters located in Arlington, Virginia, USA. The Lightning Delivery Team operates under the Production, Sustainment, & Follow-on-Development (PSFD) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Annex C of the MoU defines the need for Cooperative Program Participants (CPP) resourced from Partner Nations, to work within the Joint Program Office under the US Government. Those in Cooperative Program Participants roles work for the US Government, whilst maintaining UK MOD responsibilities and UK CPPs remain employees of the UK MOD under UK T&Cs. What you'll be doing Identify and manage the risks associated with the integration of a highly complex 5th Generation Fighter Aircraft's maintenance and logistic information system; interfacing directly with technical subject matter experts from across the Joint Program Office and industry Coordinate with US Services, Department of Defence and Joint Strike Fighter Partner and Foreign Military Sales countries on ALIS/ODIN software functions. There will be regular interaction with US, UK, and other Partner Authorities on a day-to-day basis to assist in the delivery of the UK Lightning Program and the wider international program. New York is 3 hours by train and the region's three airports provide an extensive choice of domestic and international flights. The post is supported administratively by the British Defence Staff at the British Embassy. The overall standard of living in the area is excellent and assistance is provided through a cost of living allowance (COLA) paid with salary.
