Your Role in the Company
The Assistant Materials Manager supports project operations by ensuring timely delivery of materials and services, primarily focused on the depot location. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you'll coordinate depot activities, working closely with Stores/Logistics and Procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in ensuring depot materials and services support operations and maintenance activities.
* Coordinate material controller tasks at the depot.
* Liaise with customers and personnel regarding stock inspections and audits.
* Generate analytics and KPIs on material consumption and report to management.
* Maintain ERP system data accuracy and produce relevant KPIs.
* Review stock levels and set minimum order quantities based on demand and supplier lead times.
* Coordinate with Procurement to order materials as needed.
* Place orders with approved suppliers and manage purchasing processes.
* Participate in stocktaking and ensure ERP system accuracy.
* Support training of Material Controllers and other staff on procedures and systems.
* Ensure compliance with HSQE standards.
Salary
We are proud to pay competitively as a Real Living Wage Employer. The salary for this role is approximately £40,000 per annum.
Success Factors
* English and Mathematics at grade 3 or above (or equivalent).
* CIPS qualification or working towards it is desirable.
* Experience in Materials Management, Purchasing, or Logistics.
* Experience in Engineering or Rail sectors is preferred.
* Understanding of Mechanical & Electrical systems is advantageous.
