Job overview

We are recruiting for a Deputy Divisional Nursing Director who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Deputy Divisional Nursing Director & Head of Nursing and Quality will be expected to demonstrate strong professional clinical leadership and provide specialist and strategic education and clinical advice across the Division and Care Group. Acting in support of the Divisional Nursing & Quality Director, the post holder will be a key member of the senior management team across the Trust.

The post holder will support the Divisional Nursing & Quality Director to continually improve patient care, experience and assist with the implementation of national and Trust initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide all necessary support to the overall leadership, direction and management of nursing staff within the nominated Care Group.

You will be paying special attention to the clinical standards, quality, service improvements, and governance, that enhance patient care and outcomes across relevant clinical pathways.

You will provide support budget holders to ensure all services meet financial requirements to achieve successful delivery, with responsibility for monthly and yearly budgets.

You will also portray a management style which builds on existing strengths of the organisation, valuing equality and diversity.

The post holder is the Lead Cancer Nurse for East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust and as such, is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high quality cancer care across the organisation.

Qualifications / Training

* Registered Nurse Degree or equivalent relevant experience
* Completed level 1a, 1b and level 2 essential patient safety training
* Oncology/Haematology post graduate course
* Masters level qualification / working towards or equivalent experience
* Attended at least two days formal ‘patient safety’(PSIRF) training and skills development.


Previous Experience

* Extensive experience in a Senior Nursing position within cancer and /or haematology services
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Evidence of continuous professional development

* Experience of managing change and associated behaviours
* Experience of developing policies and procedures
* Evidence of outcomes from application of professional leadership
* Evidence of the development and application of clinical competences
