Reference: 6098584e Term Time: 6 hours (weekend) can be split or 1 morning /afternoon per weekend School Holidays: 10 hours each week (to be arranged flexibly between us) PURPOSE OF JOB We are seeking for a suitable PA (personal assistant) for our son aged 8 in LS9 (Leeds) to support to access social & leisure activities. Our son has autism and epilepsy (controlled by medication). Our son needs assistance and close supervision to access activities in the community and home. We need someone who is willing to engage and interact with him an appropriate level and to stimulate him through various activities such painting and drawing, jigsaws & playing games at home. Experience of having worked with children, young people with Special Educational Needs (S.E.N.) is preferable. What he really enjoys doing, is going out and about. So, we are looking for a PA who can accompany him on social activities e.g., trips to local places of his interest such as “sensory places in Beeston. Our son does not have any awareness of danger, you must be careful especially around water, as he will jump in, extra supervision and vigilance is required when going to park where there is lake or ponds. The person we will employ will have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work including total respect for our privacy. Our son’s personal assistant must supervise him at all times, and always be aware of his vulnerability and his need to be kept safe. SUPERVISION Our son’s personal assistant will be directed by and accountable to us in all aspects of their work. We would like our son’s personal assistant to talk through with us any situations they feel may arise while attending a particular event or activity. MAIN DUTIES Our son’s personal assistant will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature. Support Tasks • Accompany our son to activities in the community (i.e. social, educational etc.) • Suggest activities that our son would enjoy. • Assistance with toileting/personal cares when required. • Support him to attend social & leisure activities safely. Be mindful of our son’s safety at all times, as he has no sense of danger at all.
