We are looking for a proactive People and Payroll Assistant with a solid background in HR or People operations. This is a vital role that sits at the heart of our organisation, bridging the gap between people-centric support, reliable payroll administration, and the essential coordination that keeps our office thriving. What the role involves As our People and Payroll Assistant, you will be the engine room of our People team. Your day will be split between maintaining accurate employee records, ensuring our payroll data is prepared with precision, and making sure our office environment remains a productive and welcoming space for everyone. This is a true "all-rounder" role where you will manage the administrative flow of the department. You’ll be the person who ensures the "small things" are done right—knowing they make a big difference to our team. Your core responsibilities include: The Employee Journey: Taking full ownership of the People inbox and coordinating the end-to-end lifecycle. This includes generating contracts, conducting pre-employment checks, and managing the leaver process with care and efficiency. Payroll & Benefits: Taking a lead on payroll variations and the administration of our benefits (including Cycle to Work, Holiday Purchase, and Childcare Vouchers). You’ll ensure our data is organised, calculated correctly, and ready for a seamless monthly pay run via Sage. Workplace Coordination: Coordinating the day-to-day logistics of the Holme Pierrepoint Office. This includes acting as the point of contact for office orientations, coordinating entry system access, and ensuring communal supplies and facilities are well-maintained. Reporting & Insight: Maintaining the People system (HRIS) to provide accurate data and regular reports on key metrics like turnover and absence, helping us make informed decisions. Process Improvement: We’re always looking to do things better. You’ll have the opportunity to suggest more efficient ways of working to enhance both our operational accuracy and the overall employee experience. About You We are looking for a "people person" who is a master of the details. You’ll need: Proven People Experience: You’ve worked in a People or HR environment before and understand the importance of the employee experience and the rhythm of the lifecycle. Attention to Detail: You have a natural knack for spotting errors and ensuring that records—whether they are names, dates, or figures—are always 100% accurate. Superb Organisation: You can switch from answering an employee query to managing office logistics or new starter setups without missing a beat. Great Communication: You’re approachable, professional, and able to explain People processes or benefit details to employees clearly and kindly.
