Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join the Gynaecology Outpatients team located at King George Hospital (KGH) and Queen’s Hospital. The successful candidate will be an experienced manager who can provide strong and confident leadership, with visible, empathetic and kind leadership skills, and a working knowledge of HR processes and roster management across both sites. The role offers opportunities for personal and professional development and the support of a leadership team to ensure success in the role.
The post provides visible, compassionate, and effective leadership within our Gynaecology Outpatient Department—a busy and dynamic unit operating across both KGH (Goodmayes) and Queen’s Hospital (Romford). The role ensures delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across a range of specialist clinics.
Responsibilities
* Lead the nursing team in the Gynaecology Outpatient Department, day-to-day management, and professional development in collaboration with the Lead Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Pre-Assessment team, and the wider MDT.
* Demonstrate kind, fair, and inclusive leadership, promoting a culture of respect, safety, and continuous improvement.
* Provide professional autonomy with a sound understanding of local policies, clinical guidelines, and governance frameworks.
* Take an active leadership role in service development initiatives, quality improvement projects, and ongoing staff development through mentorship, regular appraisals, and performance reviews.
* Support staff wellbeing and development to ensure safe, compassionate, and high-standard patient care.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Experienced manager with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage HR processes and rosters across both sites.
* High standards of care and a commitment to patient-centered service delivery.
* Knowledge of local policies, clinical guidelines, and governance frameworks relevant to Gynaecology Outpatients.
* Ability to mentor and develop staff, contribute to appraisals and performance reviews, and promote continuous improvement.
