The role
As a Training Technology Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will shape the future of defence training by guiding how simulation, immersive learning and AI enabled solutions are developed, integrated and assured across our programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to influence cutting edge training technologies that strengthen national resilience while also advancing your own technical expertise and leadership capability. Day to day you will be required to:
1. Provide technical leadership that guides teams developing immersive, simulation and AI enabled training solutions
2. Translate customer and operational requirements into practical, technically sound training technologies
3. Enhance simulation and digital training capabilities by improving existing systems and exploring new synthetic or immersive technologies
4. Represent the training technology function in meetings, supporting bids and advising on contracts
5. Horizon scan emerging technologies, promote best practice and build strong collaborative relationships across the business
Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.
This role is full time 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home. Travel to other Babcock and customer sites will be expected.
Essential experience of the Training Technology Lead:
6. Significant experience working with training technologies, simulation systems or digitally enabled training solutions within defence, security or similarly regulated sectors
7. Strong technical understanding of immersive training, simulation and synthetic environments, with the ability to engage confidently with engineers, developers and customers
8. Experience shaping or translating customer or operational requirements into technical or product development inputs
9. Working knowledge of data and analytics in training environments
10. Ability to influence stakeholders at both strategic and technical levels
