Engage Talent are working on a Search assignment to recruit a Senior Engineering & Projects Manager based in Aberdeen with regional responsibilities across UK, Europe and USA. The Senior Engineering & Project Manager is the regionally responsible person for all engineering aspects for projects across the region. This role requires agility to operate from detailed engineering execution to strategic oversight, flexing as needed to meet project and business demands. The individual will provide both engineering support to the wider business, as well as strategic and operational leadership of the engineering function. The successful candidate will ensure all projects delivered through contracting organisations meet high standards of safety, quality, and compliance. This role is critical in managing technical governance, fostering innovation, and acting as a key liaison between internal teams and external delivery partners. Key responsibilities: Be the senior responsible person and regional focal point for all engineering activity in UK and Europe. Lead the engineering strategy and technical delivery across all projects, ensuring innovation and technical opportunity growth. Provide technical management, oversight and assurance on works delivered by engineering contractors. Develop and implement engineering policies, procedures, and quality standards. Act as the primary point of technical escalation across engineering disciplines, ensuring engineering deliverables are fit for purpose in support the company’s field execution and construction. Ensure all engineering works are compliant with statutory, regulatory, and client requirements. Collaborate with project management and commercial teams to assess contractor capabilities and support procurement decisions. Seek innovation and agility. Build and maintain effective relationships with contractors, ensuring consistent performance and alignment with company values. Oversee the management of technical risks, design validation, and change control processes. Lead, mentor, and develop a small internal engineering team or technical function as needed. Champion health, safety, environmental, and sustainability practices across all engineering activities. Be prepared to support global engineering from concept design through to commissioning. The role requires a strong entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement across engineering delivery. The individual must be able to flex up and down the engineering scale, from performing basic design tasks to managing multi-million GBP subcontracts with global reach. Success in this role will be measured through KPIs including on-time project delivery, subcontractor performance, quality control, cost efficiency, HSE compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be Degree-qualified in engineering (although electrical, mechanical and chemical are preferred, civil, structural, or related discipline is acceptable) with Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. You will have significant engineering leadership experience, ideally within the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector and be capable of personal engineering task delivery and review. It is important to have a demonstrated success in engineering management or project engineering, on significant projects, ideally in infrastructure, energy, oil & gas or chemical. Applicants will be strong leaders, capable of effective team leadership, stakeholder management with excellent decision-making skills, in addition to experience in matrix team management. You must have proven experience managing subcontracted or third-party engineering delivery, a strong understanding of HSE standards and industry best practices and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical oversight. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, contractors, and teams. In addition, you will need a full driving licence as well as capability and willingness to travel across the UK, Europe and USA, as required.
