They are currently searching for a talented, driven Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant who is committed to enhancing Business Development (BD) by winning new and exciting projects within the Flood Risk and Drainage Sectors. The role will be based in the lively, culturally-significant city of Liverpool. Benefits for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include (but are not limited to): - Competitive salary (commensurate with experience) - Generous annual leave entitlement - Hybrid/flexible working opportunities - An inclusive working environment, conducive to creative, innovative thinking - Access to a range of interesting projects across the local region and beyond - Training and career progression opportunities - Opportunities to shape the future development direction of the company Responsibilities for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include: - Winning new projects for the company, proactively contributing to Business Development (BD) opportunities - Managing a team of technical and design professionals - Conducting Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and designing Drainage Strategies, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) - Completing Hydrological and Flood Risk Chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments, Nutrient Neutrality, and ESG factors - Undertaking site visits, writing comprehensive reports, and analysing/interpreting data sets - Using the appropriate software packages (including MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, etc.) to inform and produce technical documents and designs - Working with AutoCAD to design conceptual drainage systems - Producing flood risk maps within QGIS (or similar) - Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and other stakeholders Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include: A UK Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a cognate discipline Demonstrable experience of winning projects, contributing to Business Development (BD) Considerable experience of working in a flood risk and drainage role, within a UK-based consultancy setting Extensive experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments and producing Drainage Strategies Experience in managing people and projects Proficient in the use of relevant software systems, including MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, TUFLOW, etc. Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software systems Excellent understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills Experience of managing relations with clients and other stakeholders Dedication to your own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Possess a full, valid UK Driving Licence Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include: An understanding of relevant policy, procedures, and regulatory processes within the planning sector Prior experience of producing technical reports for flood modelling studies Good knowledge of hydraulic modelling for rivers, surface water, and/or sewer drainage Actively working to attain Chartered Status If you are interested in the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant, please do not hesitate to contact Caroline Davis at Penguin Recruitment.
