Forth Ports is one of the UK's largest and most dynamic port operator groups, playing a key role in connecting the UK with Europe and beyond. As a multimodal ports owner and operator, we are at the forefront of delivering innovative port-related services. With our recent pledge to achieve carbon neutrality by 2032 and Net Zero status by 2042, we are committed to sustainability and driving the expansion of the UK's renewable energy sector, particularly offshore wind. Now is an exciting time to join our team as we embark on this transformative journey towards a greener future.
About The Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing and maintaining all plant equipment and mechanical systems to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations. Working under the direction of the Mechanical Supervisor and in line with the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), you will deliver a responsive and high-quality maintenance service while fully complying with all health, safety and legislative requirements. The role is primarily based at the Port of Dundee, with flexibility to support maintenance activities across other locations as required.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
Ensure that all jobs are undertaken safely, with due regard to risk assessments, permit-to-work requirements, working procedures and statutory legislation. Responsible for wearing protective clothing and notifying a Supervisor of any potential hazards.
Take a proactive approach to maintaining all mechanical equipment and promptly report any damage or misuse to a Supervisor. Liaise with operational staff as appropriate to coordinate repairs.
Maintain a high standard of work and productivity in line with good customer service.
Develop a thorough working knowledge of plant equipment and associated drawings in order to repair and maintain equipment to minimise downtime.
Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment and strong organisational skills to work independently and ensure tasks are completed accurately and safely.
Keep management and engineering staff fully informed of timescales for completion of tasks. This is particularly essential during busy peak periods.
Undertake any ancillary tasks as required.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a proactive and safety-focused Mechanical Fitter who is comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and in varying weather conditions. You will be flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to travel occasionally to other Company sites and to participate in an on-call rota when required.
