The role of an Investigations Disclosure Practitioner is challenging and interesting. You will be expected to make impartial and unbiased decisions when performing the role and ensure that our decisions can withstand scrutiny by being fair, balanced, and supported by legislation and appropriate guidelines.

The IOPC Operations Directorate is overseen by the Deputy Director General, who is responsible for the delivery of all operational work.

The IOPC operates on a digital Case Management System (CMS) which allows for the electronic management of case building. Disclosure is a key component of the CMS, and the Investigations Disclosure Practitioner will be able to fulfill their role within the system.

Investigations Disclosure Practitioners will provide advice and guidance to other staff fulfilling this role throughout the organization, assist case supervisors with quality assurance of case files and retention of material, monitor preparation of disclosure schedules ensuring they are in the required format and submitted within statutory time limits, liaise with Lead Investigators regarding sensitive material, maintain security of all sensitive material, prepare reports and presentations, liaise with external agencies, support colleagues, and ensure ethical and empathetic care for victims and witnesses.

Our office locations include Wakefield, Sale, Birmingham, Cardiff, Canary Wharf, and Croydon. You may support one region and be expected to travel occasionally, with travel expenses covered.

We will assess you against Higher Executive Officer (HEO) level behaviors: Making Effective Decisions and Communicating and Influencing. Experience will also be assessed during the application process, with details provided if shortlisted. Anticipated assessment and interview dates are the week commencing 8th September. Feedback is only provided if you attend an interview or assessment.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and baseline personnel security standard checks.

This role is open to UK nationals, Irish nationals, Commonwealth nationals with right to work, EU/EEA nationals with settled or pre-settled status, and certain other eligible individuals.

Requirements include proven experience as an Investigations Disclosure Practitioner or equivalent, experience with electronic Case Management Systems, case building for criminal trials, decision-making based on assessment, effective communication skills, stakeholder engagement, and ability to work within demanding timescales. Technical knowledge of the Criminal Procedure & Investigations Act 1996 is essential; familiarity with CPIA, DPA, FOI, PRA, and GPMS is desirable. A UK DVLA Driving Licence is also desirable.

The salary is £34,067, with additional contributions towards a Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme, alongside benefits such as tailored learning and development, flexible working options, an inclusive culture, and a pension contribution of 28.97%.
